Process Defects refer to any parts or units that are produced incorrectly and fail to meet quality standards. These defective items may require rework, repair, or be discarded entirely.
Process defects reduce the Quality score in OEE, as they represent inefficiencies in the manufacturing process.
The formula for Quality in OEE is:
Quality (%) = (Good Parts ÷ Total Parts Produced) × 100
- Process Defects are included in the Total Parts Produced but not in Good Parts since they don’t meet quality standards.
Reducing process defects is critical for improving overall production efficiency, minimising waste, and maintaining cost-effective operations.
